Shihan Varun Jettly started his Martial Arts journey in year 1998 in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, India. He was 14 years old when he became very interested in learning Martial Arts. So he started looking for places where he can go and learn Martial Arts. He found a place about 35km away from his house but the distance could not stop him and he started learning Goju Ryu Karate. He used to go by bicycle in hot and humid weather in the afternoons after his school to learn Karate.
Over the next few years as well as the learning the basics of Goju-Ryu Karate, Varun Jettly was given a toughening up regime to forge ones’s body, such exercises included punching sand bags for hours in hot weather, kicking all day around the demi statues, cycyling everyday 70km to reach his dojo and come back with a partner sitting on the back of the bicycle. . Varun’s hard work earned him Black Belt in year 2003, henceforward there was no looking back for him. Shihan Varun Jettly kept training hard with various Federations and earned Black-Belts under various Martial Arts styles too. At the age of 23, Sensei Varun Jettly went to Japan to learn more about Karate and to know more about some old values of traditional Karate so that he can make new techniques which can help his students with self-defence in case of any unforeseen circumstances. His contribution to his Goju-Ryu style is unmatchable as his Katas are a perfection for excellence. He played National and International Championships where he was recognised for his efforts.
Shihan Varun Jettly opened a dojo named ‘School of Traditional Martial Arts’ in year 2010 in Birmingham, UK and taught karate to many for free. He evaluated grading examinations of Martial Arts students and awarded them with Black Belt Certificates. Shihan Varun Jettly came back to India for few months in Year 2015-2016 and took grading examination of his students and judged their ability to do Martial Arts in India. His auditorium was full of audiences when he was conducting grading examination. His event was a huge success.
Varun Jettly moved to Canada in Year 2015 and continued his ‘School of Traditional Martial Arts in Canada too. He is continually researching, innovating and growing in Martial Arts. Varun Jettly is one of those small percentage that has risen to the top of the Martial Arts field as is seen from his continuous effort to travel countries to learn more about Martial Arts and then committing himself to maintain the highest quality of traditional values, while developing physical strength and the mental awareness to face any confrontation. Varun Jettly is committed to teaching a structured, disciplined approach to Martial Arts and defence training that will help develop character, confidence and self-esteem.
Varun Jettly through his continuous dedication shows the positive impact of martial arts on the society as he himself is compassionate, resilient and strives to bring the values like harmony, respect and personal growth in the society.
