Grandmaster Marvin Royce began his martial arts training in the art of taekwondo in 1979 while stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. He has trained in numerous martial arts styles during his military career. During his time in the service, he also trained in taekwondo and hapkido under Grandmaster James McMurray while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
He currently trains under the instruction of Grandmaster Dr. Dan Roberts, and Grandmaster Michael Hornsby. GM Royce began his martial arts instructor journey as an assistant instructor at CTX Martial Sports Headquarters in Killeen, Texas. GM Royce is also the co-founder and head instructor at Emerald Coast Taekwondo in Panama City, Florida. He currently holds the rank of 7th dan in Taekwondo under Grandmaster Michael Hornsby, a 6th dan in Aiki-jujutsu under Grandmaster Gregory Robinson, a 2nd dan in Soo Bak Kee; as well as a 2nd dan in Hapkido under Grandmaster Dr. Dan Roberts
GM Royce is a United States Veteran who served 20 years prior to retiring from the United States Army in 1997 as a M1/M1A1 Tank Master Gunner. GM Royce began his security career in 1997 in Austin, Texas with Brinks’ Inc. (Armored Trucks) after retiring from the Army. He is currently a Deputy Chief of Security at American Paratus Security Agency headquartered in northwest Florida. Deputy Chief Royce is licensed as a Texas Department of Public Safety Commissioned Security Officer; Private Security firearms, and classroom instructor; as well as a Private Investigator. Deputy Chief Royce is also a certified NRA firearms instructor. Deputy Chief Royce is a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events Instructor. He also became the first private security officer to become a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office for Bombing Prevention (OBP) Bomb-Making Materials Awareness Program (BMAP) community liaison, and trainer for his agency. He is a certified level 7 instructor under Grandmaster Danny Lane with Police Tactics Instructors of America. His duties include overseeing agency instructors, and the training of new and current security officers from within and outside of the agency. Training instructed includes classroom studies, defensive tactics, less than lethal and firearms.
