TKA Administrator – Silvia Volkmann
Silvia Volkmann has 22 years of work experience at USAA, a company that serves military members and their families. She is a Financial Advisor specializing in loans and is recognized as a positive force in her work environment-setting high standards, earning numerous awards for community service, and inspiring her team to succeed through her uplifting attitude.
She also works for EurAupair, one of the oldest and largest au pair agencies in the United States. Young adults aged 18 to 26 are matched with American host families for childcare and cultural exchange. Silvia serves as a Community Counselor, supporting au pairs from around the world as they navigate their experience in the U.S.
Silvia is married and has three children . She spends most of herfree time pursuing hobbies alongside her brother, Grand Master Johnny Thompson, attending various karate events. She enjoys traveling across the U.S. and abroad and riding their German Rewaco Trike.
A 1st Degree Chodan Black Belt in American Tang Soo Do, Silvia has been active in martial arts since 1984. She began her journey with Thompson’s Karate Association, now known as TKA- The Karate Association, which teaches American Tang Soo Do under the direction of her brother, GM Johnny Thompson, President of TKA. Silvia serves as Head of Administration for the association, helping organize its annual December event and assisting with logistics throughout the year. Her lifelong dedication to martial arts was honored with induction into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the martial arts community and her commitment to excellence.
She has been actively involved in the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame and the International Martial Arts Council of Americas since 2017, working the front desk and managing alt evening banquet activities. Known affectionately as the “Gatekeeper”, Silvia is respected by her peers for her professionalism, reliability, and dedication. She is hardworking, gets the job done right the first time, and consistently goes above and beyond to help others.
